Adding Time Quickly!
is a very useful hack to add hours and minutes together:
try adding 2 hours and 44 minutes with 2 hours and 25 minutes.
lets put the hours and minutes together so that they form a number. We
will get 244 and 255
using the addition hack you learnt earlier add 244 to 225
+ 225 = 469
add 40 (this is a fixed addition step) to
469 to give you 509 (This is a compulsory step to be done so
for all addition of time.)
Since hour is always in single digit and minutes in double digit, you
should write your answer, which is 509, in the same way (509
= 5 + 09).
Thus, the answer is 5 hours and 09 minutes.
this trick with your friends and have fun adding time quickly!
4 things you should consider before hiring a tutor
1) Budget – We need to be realistic as we have our finances to manage but we also need to provide our best possible.
2) Proximity – Best situation is to have the tutor come to your house to save on your time. Why do you want to pay more and spend more time to bring your child to a different venue?
3) Suitable tutor – You need to hire a tutor who is able to help your child at their level. E.g. hiring a MOE teacher with vast number of experience to teach your child basic mathematics might cause a burn in your pocket. It is important to find the suitable tutor to teach your child at his or her competency level and change the tutor when necessary to improve the competency.
4) Communication – This is the most important point in hiring a tutor. It is very important to communicate with the tutor prior to hiring the tutor. This will give you an understanding of the tutor’s competency and how the tutor (strategies) will be able to help your child.
When subtracting, we want to avoid the
carrying over of numbers so that we can solve it mentally. We are going to use
the same trick that we used for solving addition problems, and subtract from
left to right.
664 - 453
Step 1: Group the numbers into hundreds,
tens, and ones
i.e. 664 (600 + 60 + 4) – 453 (400 + 50 +3)
Step 2: Going from left to right, subtract
